About ChatSettings

ChatSettings v1.00

Lets you specify which chat tabs will receive loot, system, world, raid, emote, and GM messages (in addition to the existing ones like say, zone, etc).

Added chat tab coloring on message (notifications) Added banners tab to the Channel Settings dialog - options to redirect output from banner-type frames

Usage:

Select a chat tab
Right-click on the selected tab
Click on Channel Settings
Select which message types to view in the selected tab
Use /chatsettings to toggle notifications on and off

ToDo:

Add config screen
Filter specific messages
Options to remove join/leave channel messages
Options to make the chat frames not fade out
Options to have notifications per message type
Don't notify if current frame is registered to the same message type
Options for chat tab colors

Fixed packaging. Changed notifications to only show up if you haven't seen the message in any tab.

Whenever I click the system box to stop it from spamming the default tab, anytime I click the chat window it resets.

Also could you make a function to turn off the join/leave spam in custom channels? Or is that not possible?

I can't come up with a error message at all. I'm using the V1.18 and 24 addons atm. German client and language and of course manual install (I have control *muharharhar*)

Since Blechsoldat has some issues, I will focus on the addons we both installed.

pbinfo V0.30 (v. old version)
RoMail (latest)

For possible conflicts I include some more addons I use:
Qunitframes instead of ikarus atm, but I don't think the problem is around the visuals and HUDs. No xbar and adbuffbars, but RomBa.

CombatlogMod instead of pbCombatlog.
Shut up! instead of SpamStop.

And As I mentioned before: pbinfo is a little twitchy with SlashCommands on my end. Sometimes I got a conflict with pbinfo and kafk, sometimes they work like a charm. Might be a problem if addon a) is loaded first and no problem if addon b) is loaded first or whatever. I did resolve the issue with kicking out the only grown up afk tool since it's looks like it's no longer continued.
No error message, no problems with a messed up settings (wiped savedvar). But I did have more "upload" crashes then usual. Once a crash at the very moment I was hovering over an item and the tooltip showed me the currently in use item and the stats from statsrating. I could not redo the crash with that item though...

S'anyway. Enough of that. To the people that have had these problems: what error messages did you get (especially the first one - hit)? Which language/region client are you running? Did you install with the curse client? What other addons are you running? Give me *something* to work with here!

I just installed it, and it works flawless with my other 20+ addons, nothing wrong at all.

Do as Monk1610 recommends, BACKUP YOUR SETTINGS BEFORE UPDATING ADDONS, just in case.. but it worked for me, and probably will for most others too.

The answer is quite simple:
BACKUP your savedvar at every change in your addons und you just need to replace this one file and remove the addon which might have caused the problem to get your old functionality.

If you don't - simply don't complain that your data is lost.

I'm 100 positive that the dev does check his code on his machine - and we don't have a single word about a error log or hint what exactly happend in here. Maybe you can provide some useful info instead?

Ya once it updated to 1.18 got of errors and now even without ChatSettings installed a lot of my other addons are still getting errors. Looks like I'll have to reinstall ROM :\ I really liked this addon but now I can't trust it anymore or should I say the programmer. Too bad :(

Just remove all addons and all profile settings. No need to actually reinstall the entire game, just the addons\settings ;) Then just add the other addons again and you are good to go.

grrr... i'm not pleased... so many things i'd love to say but i'm biting my tounge. This got updated to 1.18 and blew up all my addons, took me an uninstall/reinstall, and installing one addon at a time until i found out which one went wrong. Sure enough it nukes all of the settings of the other addons...

As soon as you have more then 1 addon: backup the savedvar. Even if both addons work perfectly alone, there is always a chance for a conflict - especially if they are from different coders.
For example: Pbinfo complains about nil values if I simply enter some slash commands - even though these commands are NOT for pbinfo to recognize. Screwed up my afk tool again... had to switch to an older version of pbinfo because the timer and pbinfo made a infinite (!) error msg frame (good thing was, chatsettings 1.17 fully worked, hence only my chat window was spammed).
