QuestTrackHelper v1.2

Description

Automates the Tracking of Quests and Quest turn in NPCs

Features

  • Auto tracks all quests that are not complete and are not more then 10 levels above you and are for your current zone
  • Removes quests from your track list once they are complete or if they become more the 10 levels above your main class
  • Auto tracks quest turn in NPCs and will remove the track once you talk to the NPC
  • Removes NPC track when you get near your track target - doesn't always work when you are near zone borders
  • Increases the max amount of NPC track arrows from 5 to 10
  • AddonManager support

ToDo

  • Track quests by zone - not sure if possible atm
  • Add customization

Known Bugs

  • Quests with no turn in NPC cause bugs - I made a check for this, but have no way of testing it.

  • I tried to fix the zoning problem my self a bit but I only got it to show the arrows only when you are in the same zone as the Quest Npc, I tried to add this for the Quest Tracker too but I don't know why it doesn't work there. Btw I started modding addons 2 days ago xD

    I would post my lua version but its to big...

    Is there a / command or other way to move the directional arrows? I'd like to be able to move them to a different area of the screen.

  • I've looked through the code and figured out how to get the "Target is not trackable" message to stop. The downside to this is that the 'auto tracking' feature doesn't work. No more arrows pointing every which way but it did keep the wonderfully colored quest tracker. This is actually what people may have wanted to do but I'll post the 1 digit change I made to your code so people that may want to keep it, but lose the auto tracking feature (until you fix it).

    I changed the i = i + 1 to i = i + 0 in the following section:

    function QuestTrackHelper_OnUpdate(update, elapsedTime)
    QuestNum = GetNumQuestBookButton_QuestBook()
    if (init and QuestNum > 0 and not SpeakFrame:IsVisible() and not SelectRewardItemFrame:IsVisible() and not UI_QuestBook:IsVisible()) then
    QuestTrackHelper_Run(i)
    if i >= QuestNum then
    i = 1
    else
    i = i + 0
    end
    end
    if init and #(g_NpcTrackTable) > 0 then
    TrackNear(j)
    if j >= #(g_NpcTrackTable) then
    j = 1
    else
    j = j + 1
    end

    I am no programmer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night :P

    Refinger's Altar give a non-closeable error message box as long as the log book is not open, once you have it opened you can close the error until you close the log book.

    "call QuestTrackHelperFrame's OnUpdate, line: [string "?"]:152: bad argument #1 to 'NpcTrack_SearchNpcByDBID' (number expected, got nil)"

  • Is this compatible (without conflicts) with pbinfo's built in quest log module?

    Afraid to try until I know. Sometimes when addons conflict they blow up the Saved Variables.lua file, and the only way to check is to install it and have a backup ready.

    I'm afraid to install any form of quest addon at all, because I'm not sure if any of them will work with the one pbinfo has.

  • Oh yea, and would it be possible to allow for autotracking monsters required for the quest? Also even if there's no monster link to track from, like dailys that have no link? Or does it already do that?

    Wish there was an edit button.

    This addon has promise, but until it can filter based on zone, it's just too unwieldy.

    Also, I'd like to see an option to turn off the arrows around my character.

    Hey Mavoc, how do you COMPLETELY remove this mod? Like what drkmaster said, I removed the whole Addon but the arrows are still there, it's getting irritating. The least you could do is reply, not gonna bite you or anything.

    The arrows are not from the addon, they are part of the game. Go to the World Search, you will find the list of tracked NPCs there, just click delete all.

    Hey, uh, I uninstalled this addon, but the arrows are still showing up. I uninstalled it in Curse Client, I looked in the files, and I deleted the interface/addons folder, neither of which worked. Then I uninstalled the game, and reinstalled. That didn't work either. How do I get rid of your mod?

    I'm a little confused what this addon does. Does it show you were the quests objectives are on the map? Ever since I removed it, it doesnt show anything on the map.
