Goldseller SpamStop

Oh nononono, this is horrible. It makes more work than it tries to save! I had to keep cleaning my blacklist, and yes, I'm sure I could configure it, but i can see that will be even *more* work thank its worth! Uninstalled!

Is there any options to it? It keeps blacklisting friends whispering me "too often" (even tho its the normal speed of chatting) and even npc's talking xD

Open up the Lua file and remove the event on say and on whisper.

I love how it blacklists people who say "comment" :-)

I'd like your help on combining both these outdated addons into a universal spam stopper. Chatfilter and spamstop, plus removing some in game npc chatter (Ex. silverfall area) it would be quite nice.

Change this segment:
s = arg1; if(string.find( s, "www") or string.find( s, "WWW") or string.find( s, "W W W") or string.find( s, "w w w") or string.find( s, "com") or string.find( s, "COM") or string.find( s, "c o m") or string.find( s, "C O M") )

To this:
s = arg1; if(string.find( s, "www.(.*).com") )

You will also need to make everything lower case and remove whitespace from the string before doing the check. Then it will have 100% accuracy in removing correctly spelled spam and nothing else.

This addon needs a serious update, right now it blocks more legit people than it does gold sellers.

The idea is indeed great, gold seller spam is my biggest annoyance in RoM.

This Addon doesnt seem to be the answer though, looking at the lua, the criterior is far far too simplistic. It simply checks for a number of variants of "www" and "com" and if it finds them it blacklists the person. Regular english words like "complete", "become", "come" etc trigger the addon and so its very common to block random conversation, it even attempted to blacklist myself!

Strangely it seems to use the criterior of a URL to mean a goldseller, which means even without the fact it blocks people for nothing, its more of a URL blacklister than a spam blacklister, and since a lot of guilds advertise their website, they also get mistaken.

Changing the criterior to something more complex, like a score based on the presence of various factors eg. url, trigger words like gold/diamonds/cheap or degree of repetition would make this work way more effectively.

This mod is a great idea and for some may be worth installing to block the gold seller spam, but for me, I can't use it because it blocks all /whisper, /yell, & /say. All I want it to do is block the gold spammers not block all the other stuff. If that could be fixed I would use it, but until then its useless to me.

Does a very good job of blocking the spam bots and I like the idea of keeping your blacklist from getting full...but it also seems to do a very good job of blocking a lot of stuff that isn't spam =/ It tried to block the house maid for whispering when you apply for a new house, other npcs from doing their dialogs, as well as players on shouts that were just answering questions.

This is a great addon, but is it possible to not display the "You have added ... to your blacklist" msg as well as the original spam msg?
